Spotting An Opportunity

The present moment represents one of the greatest times to be alive in human history. We have so much going on in the world and the ample opportunities available to make a difference have never been this high. Everyone and anyone has an opportunity to make a difference in any sphere of life. The question however is how do you make a difference? How can you make a difference if you are unable to spot an opening - traditionally referred to as an opportunity? How do you spot an opportunity in a world where everyone is denouncing the lack of such opportunities? The answer to this question is very basic but fundamental, how many of you have heard people especially those that are successful say “opportunities are everywhere, you just need to look for them and embrace them when they do come”? Most people’s sentiments to statements like that are often along the lines of, “I have been trying but I cannot seem to get through, or maybe these opportunities are reserved for certain people because I have never been that lucky”! Well, I have news for you, opportunities are never reserved for anyone, opportunities are for all people and its never about luck. Opportunities like and prefer people that put in the work, these people are eventually rewarded but the most unfortunate thing about life is that most people tend to give up quite quickly and in most times they give up without realising how close they were to a breakthrough.

So, if opportunities are everywhere, how do you spot them? First and foremost, there is an art in spotting an opportunity but this skill is possessed by everyone, the difference however between those that can use this skill and those that can’t lies in the daily activities that people engage in! Those that can spot opportunities, know that no one person can ever succeed alone therefore they look for potential partners, Henry Ford was one of the greats when it came to putting together a team to achieve his visions. He knew he had limitations and to counter those limitations, his plan was to put together a team of brilliant minds to compliment his shortcomings and he did that with absolute aplomb!  Those that can spot opportunities understand that they need to spend their days preparing themselves to grab opportunities when they come, they read, they have a plan, they have worked out their implementation and execution strategies. It is easier to spot an opening when you know what to look for and your plan should be a tool that shows you what you need to look for!

Opportunities are indeed everywhere, it is just a matter of finding your specific opportunity, all people have that one specific opportunity that is strictly designed for them, how do you spot such an opportunity? You first find out what purpose you intend to serve in this life - because we are all here to serve a purpose, once you can figure that out then you will find your opportunity. continuous improvement serves as one of the key ways to learn about your purpose, you will never regret the day you start improving yourself. Read and/or listen to books, learn more about things that interest you, impart any knowledge you may have, become a positive society contributing member. Through your journey of self improvement you will discover and realise some of the most important life lessons that are going to be specific to you, those lessons will show you the purpose you are meant to serve in this life!

Do not make the mistake of thinking that you will stroll along life and one day you will spot your opportunity, luck has nothing to do with opportunities. Preparation has everything to do with opportunity, no one successful person has ever claimed luck as the catalyst for their opportunity or success. I mean even the superstars who were discovered on YouTube it was not by luck but rather their preparations and plans which got them their opportunity. First they had the talent; which they excelled at, then they worked out a plan - which was to upload their videos on YouTube and as they say the rest is history!
